of thing. we'll take a look at the weekend in just a minute. back to you. >> thank you. some of the top stories this morning a murder-suicide in oakton, virginia. this happened around 7:00 last night. officers say alexander rios shot and killed had you roommate after appear argument and then shot himself. the search is on for the man accused of abducting violet ripken. officers found her with her hands bound 24 hours later. she was not hurt. we are talking about football. fall is right around the corner. that is big for tv as well. we are getting ready to take a sneak peek for the line-up for tv. >> they include some of your favorite shows, knew projects and everything in between.

on sunday. stay tuned. dave ross will be live at redskins park beginning at 6:00 a.m. lindsay murphy will be live for the fox 5 news at 5:00 tonight. violet ripken, the mother of baseball great cal ripken, jr. is home safe after being abducted at gunpoint earlier this week. the suspect is still on the loose this morning. willmar has latest. >> reporter: the case is rather bizarre and right now, investigators are woking to get to the bottom of it and to find this alleged abductor. police say the mother of cal ripken, jr. was kidnapped for about 24 hours and released unharmed. they are unsure of a motive sawing there was no ransom demand and it is unclear if the suspect knew of the famous connection to the woman he abducted. violet ripken lives alone and relatives and authorities didn't realize she was missing until about 8:00 p.m. tuesday night when someone called 911 to report seeing a
woman tied up in a car in baltimore county. police traced the license plates. neighbors say a man confronted mrs. rip condition in the garage of her home about 12 hours early are on tuesday morning. he blindfolded her and forced her into her own car at gunpoint. >> evidently, he was waiting in the garage. you know how the gar hajj has like doors and stuff, he walked in there and when she walked in there in the morning, he abducted her and tied her up. >> the man drove her around, gave her food and even lit cigarettes for her. mrs.ripken was found at 6:00 a.m. yesterday still bound sitting in her car parked not far from her home. again, she was not harmed. her abductor apparently drove her there and then took off on foot. so a bit of a mystery. she was able to give police a vague description. they are looking for i white

local hospital. a shooting tragedy now in wood bridge, virginia claims the life of a 4-year-old boy. police say he accidentally shot himself. investigators believe the car was left alone in a car on empire treat yesterday afternoon and found the gun inside the vehicle. it is still unclear why the boy was alone or who the gun actually belonged to. police have not yet said who the victim is. the colorado shooting suspect sent his plans to a psychiatrist. the university of colorado is confirming that it got a suspicious package on campus and gave it to police. in it was a notebook from the 24-year-old suspect james holmes, that had full details about how he was going to kill people including scribeels of a stick figure shooting other stick figures. but the psychiatrist never opened the package. a woman trapped in her own basement if four feet of messy water for three days. we'll have details of her rescue coming up next. more drama for the jackson

very hot day today. here is your heat advisory. it is back. we've seep this many, man time this month. it goes into effect at noon through 8:00 tonight and it will feel like 100 to 105. in in some cases, closer to 110. lots of water if you can. spend some time in the shade. get indoors in the air conditioning because the heat will be on the dangerous side for a time this afternoon. 100 degrees again. there will be a the bit of a breeze. not much a cooldown tonight. overnight low about 08 degrees. then very warm overnight. win out of the west about 10 miles per hour. here is your five-day forecast. not much better tomorrow. 96 with a better chance of scattered storms tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow night. saturday thins friday. start to feel better with highs in the low 90s. sunday and monday look a lot better with highs in the upper 80s and tolerable humidity.
that is a look at the weather. stay cool. let's do some traffic and get the latest on this beer truck. what is going on? >> you talking to me talking about beer. on the roads, this is what i know. if you are traveling northbound 207 shortly before 4:00 this morning, truck overturned north of 109 but well before route 8. so again, the activity here blocks the northbound stretch of 270. we are noticing now that some traffic is able to squeeze by on the right shoulder only. this will be against our rush hour flow headed northbound from germantown up into frederick. this is definitely going to impact your commute. bail out early. plan on using 355 although some traffic is able to get by on the right shoulder. there is not much of a doe law at this time. this truck is overturned. it is loaded with beer. there is a lot to clean up. the southbound lanes are open. no problems there but all the flashing lights causing a rubbernecking delay as you work your way south. on the other side of town, lanes are open. no problems to report northbound along i-95 as you
work your way north of woodbridge continuing across the occoquan. pace is good on 359 leaving the beltway to the 14th street bridge. that's a check of your fox 5 on-timetraffic. imetraffic. v-d.o.t. has introduceed a new type of e- zpass transponder. the flex transponder allows drivers to switch between the standard toll paying mode and the new hov mode. it is desynd for the hot lanes set up on i-495 later this year. v d.o.t. says the express lanes will also expand to public transportation in fairfax county. >> this is a game changer. we are going to be able to now provide bus service, something that we had not had before on these new hot lanes. i can tell you from working with our fairfax county office of transportation this is a number one priority. >> v-d.o.t. says you can still use the standard transponder in the
express lanes but not be able to use the hov option. nonprofit empower d.c. is filing a lawsuit against the city. it wants to stop the construction of the bus parking lot at alexander cromwell school in northeast. d.c. mayor vincent gray is proposing 65 charter school buses park at the lot over the next five to 10 years. more than 57 residents have signed a petition so far. >> they've done no analysis, no study, no look at the impact of 65 buses coming into this densely populated residential area on a daily basis. they don't care about the people here. the people here, a quarter of them have respiratory problems. many are on mechanical breathing devices. people are dying here and the government doesn't seem to care. >> community members say they

phone and tells me he is not giving me my phone back. >> that was the wrong thing for the officer to do. >> reporter: the aclu's art spiritser says that officer may not have known about this new general order issued by dose police chief cathy lanier that went into effect last thursday. >> the order is completely clear that, in terms of preventing a person from taking pictures, the police are never to do that. >> reporter: the order comes as a result of a lawsuit spitzer filed on behalf of jerome voras who explained to our paul wagner on monday that he was detained by a d.c. police officer while taking these pictures of a traffic stop in georgetown. >> did you know that you were within your rights at that point? >> knew i was in the full scope of the law. >> reporter: this is why we filed this lawsuit and this is why we needed this order is because here in d.c. and around the country, we've seen so many instans of police being camera shy and worse because they don't want people to see what
